Keyword Cannibalization Fix: How to Find and Solve It
How to spot pages competing for the same search, decide what to do with each one, and fix it without losing traffic.
Read articleA practical on-page SEO checklist in five groups: intent, content, HTML tags, links and page experience. Run it on every new page and every page that has stopped growing.

This is the on-page SEO checklist I use on client pages before and after publishing. It is grouped into five parts so you can work through it in about 30 minutes per page. For the full picture of what on-page work includes, see my on-page SEO service page.
On-page SEO means optimising the content and HTML of a single page so it fully answers a search and is easy for Google to understand. The core checks are: match search intent, answer the question early, write a clear title tag and meta description, use one H1 and logical headings, add internal links, optimise images, add correct schema and make the page fast on mobile.

| Headings | One H1, logical H2s | Heading checker |
| Links | 3 to 5 internal links in, 3 to 5 out | Anchor calculator |

Picture a law firm’s “no win no fee” page with the keyword only in the URL, two H1s, no internal links from the blog and a 4.8 second LCP on mobile. Fixing the title, merging the H1s, adding links from six related articles and compressing the hero image are all on-page jobs, and none of them needs a single new backlink.
I fix titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links and schema across your whole site, page by page, with a before and after report.
Matching search intent with genuinely helpful content. Tags and technical details help Google understand the page, but they cannot rescue a page that does not answer the search.
Changes are usually picked up after Google recrawls the page, often within days to a few weeks. Ranking changes can take longer.
No fixed density works. Use the main keyword in the title, H1 and early in the text, then write naturally and cover related subtopics.
There is no fixed number. As a practical rule, add 3 to 5 relevant internal links in the body and make sure 2 or 3 older pages link to the new page.
Schema is not a ranking factor by itself, but it helps Google understand the page and can make it eligible for rich results.
