ReadReal starting prices from my own services, and the factors that change them.

This page answers how much does link building cost using my real starting prices from October 2026, so you can plan a budget with real numbers instead of guesses.
Link building costs from about $10 for supporting links to $350 or more for premium news placements. Most guest posts on real niche blogs start between $30 and $50. Small businesses usually spend about $100 to $300 a month at the start, then scale up once results show.

Most link types start between $10 and $50, with premium news sites costing much more. These are my own starting prices.
| Link type | Starting price | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Quora answers (20) | $10 | Referral traffic, awareness |
| Expired domain link | $10 | Supporting links |
| Web 2.0 link | $30 | Link variety |
| Guest post on a niche blog | $30 | Core authority |
| Google News guest post | $45 | Fast trust and indexing |
| Home improvement guest post | $50 | Home niche relevance |
| Brand mention on a news site | $50 | Brand and AI visibility |
| MSN.com guest post | $350 | Premium brand trust |
Site quality is the biggest factor: sites with more real traffic and authority charge more. Niche matters too, as finance, crypto and health sites usually cost more than general blogs. Longer researched content and permanent placements also raise the price.
A small or local business can start with about $100 to $300 a month, which buys 2 to 4 quality guest posts. Competitive online stores and SaaS brands often need 10 or more links a month plus brand mentions. Spreading links over time looks natural and makes results easier to measure. For the full strategy, read my link building guide.
Very cheap bulk links rarely are. They often come from networks or spammy sites that Google’s Google spam policies describe as link spam, so they may be ignored or cause problems. A few relevant links usually beat hundreds of poor ones.
A local business sets $150 a month. Month 1: 2 niche guest posts at $30 and 1 Google News post at $45, total $105, plus $45 kept for content updates. Months 2 and 3 repeat the plan, adding a $50 brand mention once traffic starts to move. Total spend after 3 months: about $450.
Prices depend on the site’s traffic, authority, niche, content length and the publisher’s own rates.

With $500 you could buy about 10 to 15 guest posts on niche blogs at starting prices, or a mix of guest posts and one premium placement.
If you need on-page work and links together, a monthly plan is usually better value. See my pricing page for options.
