Case Converter: what it does and an example result

The free case converter runs in your browser, needs no sign-up and never sends what you type anywhere.

    Quick answer

This case converter changes text to UPPERCASE, lowercase, Sentence case, Title Case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case or CONSTANT_CASE in your browser. Rule of thumb: use sentence case or title case for headings, lowercase kebab-case for URL slugs and camelCase or snake_case for code variables.

    What is a case converter?

A case converter is a tool that changes the capitalization of text without retyping it. Simple cases change every letter, while code cases such as camelCase and snake_case also remove spaces and punctuation and join the words with a capital letter, underscore or hyphen.

    What is sentence case?

Sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence and leaves the rest lowercase, like a normal sentence. Many sites use it for headings because it reads naturally, and the Google developer documentation style guide recommends sentence case for titles and headings. Proper nouns still need capitals, so check names after converting.

What is the difference between camelCase and snake_case?

camelCase joins words with no spaces and capitalizes each word after the first, like pageTitle. snake_case joins lowercase words with underscores, like page_title. JavaScript usually uses camelCase for variables, while Python and many databases use snake_case.

Which case should I use for URL slugs?

Use lowercase kebab-case for URL slugs, such as /link-building-guide/. Google recommends hyphens rather than underscores to separate words in URLs, and lowercase avoids duplicate addresses that differ only by capital letters.

    Frequently asked questions

Does this tool handle accented letters?

Yes. Upper and lower case conversion uses the browser's Unicode rules, so letters like e with an accent and German umlauts convert correctly. Code cases such as snake_case keep accented letters but remove punctuation and symbols between words.

Why does Title Case here differ from AP or Chicago style?

This converter capitalizes the first letter of every word, which is simple title case. Style guides like AP and Chicago keep short words such as a, of and to lowercase. Use the title capitalization tool when you need a specific style guide.

Will sentence case keep acronyms like SEO in capitals?

No. Sentence case lowercases everything after the first letter of each sentence, so SEO becomes seo and Google becomes google. Recapitalize acronyms and names after converting, or convert only the parts that need it.

What is alternating case used for?

Alternating case, like aLtErNaTiNg, switches between lower and upper case on every letter. It is mostly used for jokes and memes on social media. Avoid it in real content because it is hard to read and screen readers may read it oddly.

Can I convert a long document?

Yes. The converter works on any length of text your browser can handle, usually tens of thousands of words, and updates instantly. Very large files may take a moment on older phones.

    Is my text stored anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, logged or saved, so you can convert private notes, client copy or unpublished text safely.
