Coming 9 OctAdd UTM parameters to any URL and copy a clean campaign link for Google Analytics.
| Parameter | Value |

Values are case sensitive in Google Analytics, so "Email" and "email" show as two different mediums.
The free utm builder runs in your browser, needs no sign-up and never sends what you type anywhere.
A UTM builder adds campaign tags such as utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign to a URL so Google Analytics can show which email, ad or post sent each visit. Rule of thumb: always fill source, medium and campaign, keep every value lowercase, and never tag internal links on your own site.
A UTM builder is a tool that appends tracking parameters to a landing page URL. It takes the base URL, keeps any existing query string and #fragment, encodes each value and joins them as ?utm_source=...&utm_medium=...&utm_campaign=..., so analytics can group visits by source, medium and campaign.

Google says to always use utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. utm_id and utm_source_platform are strongly recommended, and utm_term and utm_content are optional. Any parameter you leave out shows as (not set) in reports, as explained in Google Analytics campaign URL help.
Yes, UTM values are case sensitive, so utm_source=google and utm_source=Google are reported as two different sources. Pick lowercase as a team standard and keep a shared naming sheet. This builder lowercases values and swaps spaces for underscores by default.
Do not tag internal links, because tagged internal clicks can replace the real source of the visit in your reports. For links you place on other sites, a clean URL is usually better for SEO, since tagged URLs are extra versions of the page. If you use them, keep a canonical tag on the page.
| Parameter | What it means | Example value |
|---|---|---|
| utm_source | Who sent the visit (site, newsletter, platform) | newsletter, google, linkedin |
| utm_medium | Marketing channel | email, cpc, social |
| utm_campaign | Promotion, product or slogan | spring_sale |
| utm_id | Campaign ID used for data import | cmp_2026_04 |
| utm_term | Paid search keyword | link_building_services |
| utm_content | Which link or creative was clicked | header_button |
Example: for the URL https://zahidawais.com/link-building/ with source newsletter, medium email, campaign spring_sale and content header_button, the builder returns https://zahidawais.com/link-building/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=spring_sale&utm_content=header_button. In GA4 it appears as newsletter / email under Traffic acquisition.
Open Reports, then Acquisition, then Traffic acquisition and choose the session source / medium or session campaign dimension. UTM values also appear in the Page location dimension with the full URL. Fresh data can take 24 to 48 hours to fully show in standard reports.
Source names the specific sender, such as newsletter, google or linkedin. Medium names the type of channel, such as email, cpc or social. GA4 default channel groups use the medium, so a consistent medium decides whether a visit lands in Email, Paid Search or Organic Social.
UTM tags themselves are not a ranking factor. They create extra URL versions of a page, so keep a self referencing canonical tag on your pages and avoid using tagged URLs in internal links and sitemaps. That way Google indexes the clean URL.
Yes. You can run the tagged URL through a link shortener or a redirect on your own domain, and the UTM tags still reach your page after the redirect. A branded short link on your own domain usually looks more trustworthy in emails and posts.
(not set) means a visit arrived without that value. It often happens when a link is missing utm_campaign, when a redirect strips the query string, or when a tag is misspelled such as utm-source with a hyphen. Test each tagged link before sending.
No. The UTM builder runs entirely in your browser with plain JavaScript. Your URLs and campaign names are not uploaded, stored or tracked. Copying uses your clipboard only after you press the button.
